Circumfix is a synonym of confix, but it’s an affix which has two parts, one placed at the start of a word, and the other at the end that exists as a single morphological unit. It is placed through a morphological process. Not simultaneously.
The circumfix process can as followed:
Process 1
- Root word
- Step 1 : prefix + root word → base word
- Step 2: base word + suffix → word with circumfix
Process 2
- Root word
- Step 1 : root word + suffix → base word
- Step 2: prefix + base word → word with circumfix
Process 3
- Root word
- Step 1 : prefix + root word → base word 1
- Step 2: base word 1 + suffix → base word 2
- Step 3: prefix + base word 2 → word with circumfix
Process 4
- Root word
- Step 1 : root word + suffix → base word 1
- Step 2: prefix + base word 2 → base word 2
- Step 3: prefix + base word 2 → word with circumfix
