Another type of market is Pasar Terapung or floating market. The picture above shows the activity at Lok Baintan floating market, the iconic marketplace which represents Banjarmasin, in South Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Lok Baintan floating market is located quite far from the central of Banjarmasin. To reach it one must either go by the traditional boat (klotok), or park their cars somewhere and hire a taxi bike (ojek) which travels through the bumpy 2m small pathway through the villages.
It starts very early in the morning and within one or one and half hour, the buy-sell activity will end. Very short time and unique. Traders sell fruits, vegetables and food freshly picked from the harvest. The uniqueness of the market is that the market floats freely from one place to another as the current flows.
